BACKGROUND: 

Plant diseases and plant nematodes continue to be major challenges in agricultural production, contributing to reduced crop vigor, lower yields, and increased economic losses across a wide range of crops. Growers are increasingly seeking effective, broad-spectrum solutions that can support integrated crop health management while maintaining consistent performance under diverse production conditions.

OBJECTIVE: 

Determine the effectiveness of Proud 4® on a variety of diseases and pests.

MATERIALS & METHODS: 

PROUD 4 was evaluated in a laboratory screening conducted by an independent third-party research facility.

  • Initial pretreatment measurements were recorded, including disease diameter and nematode counts. 
  • Proud 4 was then applied to Petri dishes at concentrations of 1%, 2%, and 4%. Control was untreated and did not receive any application of PROUD 4.
  • Follow-up measurements and photographs were collected 2 days after treatment for disease assessments and at 1, 2, and 3 days after treatment for nematode evaluations.

KEY FINDINGS: 

  • Strong broad-spectrum suppression observed across multiple plant diseases and nematodes.
  • Complete inhibition achieved against several pathogens, including Alternaria, Botrytis, Colletotrichum, Fusarium, Macrophomina, Neopestalotiopsis, Phytophthora, Pythium, and Rhizoctonia, at a 1% application rate; additional activity is expected against other pathogens.
  • Complete inhibition achieved against several nematodes, including lance, lesion, root-knot, soybean cyst, and spiral nematodes, at a 4% application rate; additional activity is expected against other nematode species.
  • Statistical separation confirmed consistent and repeatable performance under laboratory condition.

SUMMARY: 

PROUD 4 demonstrated broad-spectrum in vitro suppression of multiple plant pathogens and plant-parasitic nematodes. Significant reductions and complete inhibition were observed in several evaluations, highlighting PROUD 4’s potential as an effective tool for integrated crop health management.
