Our products are designed to work hard in the field, but like any high-performance input, proper handling and application matter. Here are five important tips to help you get the most out of every gallon.
1. Water Matters More Than You Think
Water freezes below 33°F. Keep liquid products above that temperature to maintain product integrity and performance.
Beyond temperature, it’s also important to understand the quality of the water you are using. A baseline water test can help identify minerals, salts or compounds already present and those that may create compatibility challenges in your tank. Knowing your water is the first step toward building a successful application.
2. MCT-Based Products Are Highly Concentrated
Our MCT-based products are intentionally concentrated. We don’t water them down for convenience; we load them up with active ingredients.
As a result, these products must be diluted in water before application. In the tank, they help improve uptake and can increase the movement of other minerals into the plant faster and more efficiently.
A little goes a long way. Be mindful when combining with pesticides or other inputs and always evaluate whether application rates should be adjusted accordingly.
3. Jar Testing Isn’t Optional
A quick jar test can save a lot of headaches.
Use the same water source and temperature conditions you’ll have in the field, especially if the tank mix may sit overnight. Temperature and pH both play a major role in compatibility.
SUPER PHOS® and SUPER POTASSIUM® sit at opposite ends of the pH spectrum and should never be mixed straight together. Rapid pH changes can cause nutrients, humics and biologicals to fall out of solution.
When building complex mixes, add products slowly, allow time for blending and jar test first. Simpler mixes usually mean fewer compatibility issues.
4. Mixing Practices Matter
Good mixing habits help protect both product performance and equipment.
A few reminders:
- Wear proper PPE
- Shake products well before use
- Allow products time to fully go into solution
- Add products gradually and be patient during blending
- Maintain constant agitation to help keep materials suspended
Most importantly: follow the label. It’s there for a reason.
5. Clean Tanks Thoroughly
Tank cleanout is critical, especially when switching between herbicides and highly organic products.
Residual chemistry left in the tank can become reactivated and unintentionally made bioavailable again. Regular cleanout helps protect your crop, equipment and application performance.
Even if you’re using the same product repeatedly, avoid letting strong products sit overnight in the tank whenever possible.

By Heather Jennings, PE, Senior Project Engineer for Probiotic Solutions® I was attending a wastewater conference and overheard an operator talking about how a drug bust turned his lagoon orange and almost put him out of compliance with his permit. This Week in Ag #28
The recent fertilizer market may be best described by two catch phrases: “wait-and-see” and “just in time.” In the fall of 2021, sky-rocketing energy prices pointed toward looming inflation and an inevitable rise in fertilizer prices. Many savvy growers, including those aligned with the regen ag movement, hedged their bets by purchasing crop nutrients that
Caffeine in Our Water Supply: Do Our Habits Pollute the Environment?
Caffeine is excreted by the body and flushed into our wastewater. Wastewater, in turn, is treated and recycled back into the environment, or––in some cases––directly back into drinking water.
