When it comes to farming, results matter. When Steve Walmsley put Huma carbon-based products to the test on his Arkansas corn and rice fields, the difference was clear: healthier crops, higher yields, and stronger returns on investment.
These side-by-side trials showed how replacing parts of a conventional dry fertilizer program with Huma’s solutions powered by Micro Carbon Technology® (MCT) can drive better nutrient uptake, plant vigor, and yield, all without increasing the cost.
Corn Trial:
Steve used a full Huma program including SUPER PHOS®, MAX PAK®, ZAP®, Z-MAX®, and X-TEND®. This replaced several traditional dry products while maintaining the overall cost per acre at the same level as his standard program.
But that’s where the similarities ended.
With Huma, the corn received a more complete nutrient package, including vital micronutrients, biostimulants from ZAP, and enhanced efficiency of MCT, which improves nutrient availability and soil health.
Throughout the season, Huma-treated corn stood out in the field. Plants were healthier, greener, and two feet taller than the grower standard all year long. At harvest, the visual advantage turned into a measurable one: 27 more bushels per acre. Proving that the right nutrition and carbon foundation make all the difference.
Rice Trial:
The Huma program was simpler on the rice, consisting of SUPER PHOS, Z-MAX, and MAX PAK. The results were just as impressive and even more economical.
- Huma Program Cost: $42.85/acre
- Grower Standard Cost: $88.25/acre
- Savings: $45.40/acre
Even while saving more than $45 per acre, Steve’s Huma-treated rice produced 10 more bushels per acre than his standard program. That’s a win-win. Lower input costs and higher yield potential.
Across both crops, the results tell the same story. Huma’s program works together to fuel biology, feed the soil, and unlock greater yield potential. These results are just one example of how Huma helps growers get more from every acre, more naturally and efficiently.

It is with immense pleasure and a sense of great responsibility that I address you as the newly appointed Chairman of the Biostimulant Council under The Fertilizer Institute (TFI). I am filled with gratitude for the decades-long association we have with TFI, an organization that has been an integral partner of Huma since the 1990s.

#Plant23 is well underway. From the time seeds are sown, how many days should it take for crops to emerge? That can vary greatly, from days to weeks. But for many crops, it’s not really about calendar days, but Growing Degree Days (GDD).
